History Display

Carnegie Mellon University partnered with Partners In Recognition to create a historical timeline display. One section of this display highlights Arthur Claude Ruge, a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University who invented the strain gauge, a device used to test stress on structures. His invention has become highly valuable and widely used. In recognition of his contributions to society, Ruge’s invention is featured in a lit box on Carnegie Mellon’s history display. The display itself consists of large printed acrylic panels, giving it a timeless and minimalist aesthetic.
