Unique History Display
In the 1970s, members of the Thousand Oaks community recognized a growing need. They wanted a dedicated space where people could gather, connect, and celebrate the arts.
That vision became reality in 1994 with the opening of the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza. Since then, the venue has served as a cultural centerpiece for the community, hosting performances, events, and artistic experiences for all ages.
Honoring 25 Years
To celebrate the Civic Arts Plaza’s 25th anniversary in 2019, Thousand Oaks Alliance for the Arts (TOArts) wanted a meaningful way to share its journey. They envisioned a digital history display that would educate visitors while honoring the people and milestones that shaped the organization.
TOArts partnered with Partners In Recognition to bring that vision to life.
Working closely with TOArts, the design team developed a custom history wall that blends storytelling, visuals, and artifacts into one cohesive experience. The display highlights important moments in the organization’s history while creating an engaging focal point for theatre guests.
Blending Storytelling with Digital Media
This digital storytelling wall goes beyond traditional recognition displays. It combines physical artifacts with modern digital elements to create a richer visitor experience.
Three looping video screens add motion and energy to the installation. These screens showcase additional historical content, behind-the-scenes stories, and snippets of memorable performances. As a result, guests can experience the history of TOArts in a dynamic and interactive way.
The finished history display preserves the organization’s legacy while inspiring future generations. Most importantly, it reminds every visitor that the arts have always played an important role in bringing the Thousand Oaks community together.
