Built to Evolve: How Alta Bates’ Donor Wall Grows with Its Community

At Partners in Recognition, we understand that every donor recognition project is more than just plaques –  it’s about celebrating the generosity and spirit of a community dedicated to making a lasting impact. Our recent project with Alta Bates Summit Medical Center exemplifies how a well-designed donor recognition system can honor supporters in a meaningful and beautiful way.

A Tailored Approach for Alta Bates Summit Medical Center

Alta Bates Summit Medical Center, a respected facility within the Sutter Health network, approached us with specific needs for their donor recognition wall. They wanted a system that was not only visually compelling but also adaptable to evolving donor categories and preferences. Initially, the project included annual donors and historical donors with separate panels. However, as the plans developed, Alta Bates chose to streamline the display by removing annual donors and rolling historical donors into the cumulative giving list. This change allowed us to remove several panels, creating space for other design opportunities while keeping the display balanced and elegant.

Customized Levels Without Dollar Amounts

One key request was to incorporate giving levels for cumulative donors without showing specific dollar amounts. Instead, donor levels are represented with distinct plate sizes – each level having a unique plate size that reflects their impact. This subtle but effective design choice offers a dignified way to recognize donor’s generosity without focusing on numbers.

The Legacy Society plates were designed to sit in the mid-range size category, striking the right balance between visibility and modesty. We carefully spread the donor levels across the available panels, ensuring that the colors – starting and ending with teal as requested – flow smoothly across the display. The placement of the medical center’s logo on the far-right panel adds a professional and branded touch to the entire installation.

Utilizing the Clear Tech Donor Recognition System

This project utilized our ClearTech donor recognition system, known for its versatility and visual impact. ClearTech allows for clean, easy-to-read donor plates that can be updated or expanded over time, making it an excellent choice for medical centers like Alta Bates that anticipate ongoing growth in donor support. By combining aesthetic appeal with functional design, the system creates a donor recognition wall that will stand the test of time – honoring donors while enhancing the environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Why Donor Recognition Matters in Healthcare

Donor recognition in medical settings carries unique emotional weight. It tells the story of a community’s investment in health, healing, and hope. Donor displays serve as a present, real-world reminder of the generosity that sustains vital medical services and innovations. It also inspires ongoing philanthropy by visibly celebrating donor’s contributions with respect and gratitude.

For healthcare institutions, selecting the right donor recognition system is critical. It should be adaptable, visually engaging, and have quality and craftsmanship that is built to last. Our experience with Alta Bates Summit Medical Center reflects how Partners in Recognition collaborates closely with clients to tailor solutions that fit their values, space, and donor community.
