Center for Arts gets a New Display

For more than a century, the University of Montevallo has provided students with a distinctive educational experience rooted in creativity, innovation, and academic excellence. As Alabama’s only public liberal arts university, the institution has long supported the arts through programs that encourage artistic expression, collaboration, and hands-on learning.

This dedication to the arts is reflected in the University of Montevallo Center for the Arts. The facility brings together students, faculty, performers, and visitors through creative and cultural experiences. To recognize donors who helped make the Center possible, the University partnered with Partners In Recognition to create an art center donor recognition display. The display integrates with the surrounding architecture and reflects the creativity found throughout the facility.

A Capital Campaign Display Inspired by the Artistic Environment

Located prominently within the Center for the Arts lobby, the donor display serves as both a recognition feature and an architectural element. The dimensional slatted wood wall incorporates varying depths and rich wood tones. Together, these elements create movement, texture, and visual interest throughout the installation.

Rather than arranging donor names in a traditional grid, Partners In Recognition integrated three shades of laminate nameplates directly into the wood pattern. Metallic silver nameplates add contrast and help highlight significant donor contributions. Through this artistic approach, the display reflects the creativity and innovation that define the Center for the Arts.

Furthermore, the horizontal wood elements complement the surrounding architecture. They relate to the expansive lobby, clean lines, and dramatic suspended lighting fixtures. As a result, the display feels like an intentional part of the building rather than a feature added after construction.

A Flexible Add-On System Designed to Grow

Because capital campaigns often continue beyond the completion of a new facility, the University of Montevallo needed a recognition solution that could grow alongside the Center for the Arts. Therefore, Partners In Recognition utilized the Add-On System to provide flexibility for future donor additions while preserving the original artistic vision.

Unlike systems that rely on predetermined name locations, the Add-On System gives clients complete freedom in the placement of adhesive-backed nameplates. As additional gifts are received, staff can place new donor names wherever they best fit within the existing composition. Consequently, the display can grow naturally while maintaining its artistic character.

This flexibility makes the Add-On System especially effective for capital campaign donor recognition. For the University of Montevallo, the approach was particularly valuable because donor names appear woven throughout the dimensional slatted wood wall. As a result, future additions can continue the same sense of movement, balance, and creativity established in the original design.

Ultimately, the Add-On System allows the Center for the Arts to recognize future supporters without disrupting the display’s architectural character. As the art center donor recognition program grows, the donor wall will continue reflecting the creativity, generosity, and collaboration that helped make the Center possible.

Celebrating Creativity, Community, and Generosity

The completed donor display reflects the same creativity, collaboration, and attention to detail found throughout the University of Montevallo Center for the Arts. Through dimensional materials, thoughtful design, and a flexible recognition system, Partners In Recognition created a display that honors the individuals and organizations who helped bring the Center to life.

Today, the display continues to celebrate philanthropy while allowing the University to recognize future donors. Likewise, it remains connected to the artistic character of the facility. As the Center for the Arts continues to inspire students, performers, and visitors, the donor display will serve as a lasting expression of gratitude and support.
