Donor Display That Embraces Its Community’s Culture
Philanthropic recognition is most effective when it relates to the community in which it resides. I can’t think of another donor wall that embraces its community’s culture more than the donor display for Maui Health created by a collaboration between the Maui Health Foundation and Partners In Recognition. This display commemorates the support of its generous donors and fosters shared responsibility for the future of Maui Health.
The inspiring words from their recognition statement summarize the connection between their community and the vision and goals of the organization:
“Our Wall of Honor begins from the ocean reaching towards the land, over the mountains, and into the heavens. It depicts the values that we are grounded in, the mountains we have climbed in advancing healthcare for our community, and the celestials representing our vision for all that we hope to accomplish in the future.”

The display’s background image, a backdrop to Maui Health, was taken by a local photographer, Tony Novak-Clifford, who spent several days getting the shot with limited cloud cover and ensuring the sun peeking out was just right. This image and the vision from the foundation inspired the 22 foot display honoring Major Donors, Cumulative Giving, Annual Giving, Planned Giving, and several other Gift Clubs. The title piece is made of Monkeypod Wood, which was introduced to Hawaii in the 1840s and is only found in warm climates. The waves framing the top and bottom of the display are a nod to the ocean surrounding the island. All panels have changeable text via our Clear Change System, allowing users to remove the acrylic cover and replace the clear film text panel. All components were carefully curated to inspire continued support from the community.
