Community Center Donor Recognition at Greater Midland

For more than 100 years, the Greater Midland has brought people together through recreation, wellness, education, and community programs that promote vitality, build belonging, and strengthen the community. When Greater Midland opened its new Community Center, it wanted a donor recognition display that would celebrate the generosity of those who made the project possible while reflecting the organization’s mission and the welcoming spirit of the new facility.

Partners In Recognition collaborated with Greater Midland to create a custom community center donor recognition display that feels like a natural extension of the building’s contemporary architecture. Rather than appearing as a separate plaque, the display becomes part of the space itself through layered materials, architectural shapes, and meaningful messaging.

Designing Around the Greater Together Campaign

The display takes its inspiration from Greater Midland’s Greater Together campaign, which united community members, businesses, foundations, and organizations in support of the new Community Center. The campaign emphasized that lasting community impact is created when people work together toward a common purpose.

Centered beneath the words Greater Together, the display organizes recognition around six values that define Greater Midland’s mission: Education, Service, Vitality, Community, Belonging, and Wellbeing.

Each donor category occupies its own dimensional hexagon. The varying sizes create movement while accommodating different recognition levels. Leadership recognition occupies the largest panel, while additional hexagons recognize donors across multiple giving categories. Three photographic hexagons introduce visitors to the Community Center itself and reinforce the connection between philanthropy and the building it helped create.

Smaller dimensional hexagons continue across the wall, creating a visual network that symbolizes how individual gifts connect to strengthen the entire community.

Flexible Recognition with the Clear Change System

To provide long-term flexibility, Partners In Recognition incorporated the Clear Change System throughout every donor panel.

The Clear Change System offers an economical way to update donor recognition without replacing permanent materials. Donor names are printed on clear film and placed behind removable acrylic panels. When recognition changes, staff simply replace the printed donor listing while preserving the display’s original appearance.

Because the acrylic remains transparent, the printed backgrounds continue seamlessly behind the donor names. This creates a clean presentation that avoids visual interruptions while keeping future updates simple and cost-effective.

For Greater Midland, the system allows donor recognition to evolve alongside future fundraising efforts while maintaining the display’s contemporary design.

Materials That Complement the Architecture

The display was designed to complement the Community Center rather than compete with it.

Warm metallic accents frame each hexagonal donor panel and coordinate with the building’s interior finishes. Frosted acrylic, dimensional lettering, and metal elements add depth without overwhelming the space. Printed vinyl hexagon graphics extend beyond the recognition panels, visually tying the individual components together.

The donor display also responds to its surroundings. Positioned beneath the building’s colorful acoustic wall panels and within the open lobby, it becomes part of the architectural experience visitors encounter as they enter the facility. Its contemporary materials and geometric forms echo the clean lines and open feel of the new Community Center, allowing the display to feel fully integrated into the environment.

Recognition That Reflects Community

The completed community center donor recognition display recognizes far more than financial contributions. It reflects the collaboration, generosity, and shared vision that brought the Greater Midland Community Center to life.

By combining meaningful design with the flexibility of the Clear Change System, Partners In Recognition created a recognition display that will continue to grow alongside Greater Midland for years to come. The result is an installation that honors today’s supporters while remaining ready to recognize tomorrow’s community leaders.
